The emerald cut is a step cut, rectangular, with cut corners: it does not sparkle like a brilliant cut, it returns the light in broad, calm, clean flashes. Why the emerald cut is loved
It lengthens the finger, it shows off the clarity of the stone, because its broad facets hide nothing, and it outlives fashion. It is the cut of rings that are kept.
Two ways to wear it
Origine Paris offers the emerald cut in two designs:
- the Classique Émeraude, where the diamond is set along the finger, the most classic design;
- the Classique Émeraude Est-Ouest, where the diamond is set horizontally, across the finger, a contemporary design that visually widens the stone.

The diamond
A lab-grown diamond is a diamond, chemically and physically, that grew in a laboratory rather than in the ground. Those of Origine Paris are D colour, the whitest, and VS1 or VS2 clarity at minimum, which matters especially for an emerald cut: its broad flat facets, arranged in steps, act like windows and reveal the inside of the stone far more than a brilliant cut. The Classique wedding band, with its curved profile, was designed to sit against the engagement ring, emerald cut included. The two bands are worn together, all-gold or pavé, in the same gold; the fitting appointment lets you see the pair on the hand.

Frequently asked questions
Emerald cut or brilliant cut? The brilliant sparkles, the emerald reflects. At equal clarity, the emerald cut looks larger. At Origine Paris, all five shapes are the same price, so the choice is a matter of taste.
Is east-west a different ring? It is the same stone, set differently. Few houses offer it ready-made; Origine Paris keeps it in the collection, in the three golds.
Does the emerald cut come in 1.5 carats? Not for now: the 1.5-carat step is offered for the round and oval shapes.
